Character Biography

History/Biography

Born into a middle class family within Gilneas, though one wouldn’t of realized it given the families lack of flaunting any money what so ever. Her father and mother raised her on a more frugal upbringing, needs and necessity. Nel’s father Fitzgerald ‘Fitz’ Kaltrone was an outdoorsman at heart, exploring every hillside possible and usually dragging Nel and her mother along. He also treated Nel a lot like a boy, to the extent one would easily assume he’d of rather had a boy than a girl for a child. But he never said it nor showed it. Instead sharing his world with his beloved daughter and teaching her all the skills he felt were necessary to be able to survive on one’s own. From shooting, to trapping, herbalism, even abit of alchemy, to other necessary skills like cooking and first aid.

Despite this, her childhood was nothing special and fairly normal, roaming the hillsides around Gilneas, sometimes spending days looking at the Greymane Wall. While she yearned to see the rest of the world, at the same time Nel was afraid of just what may be beyond the wall. After all why else would it have been constructed when she was a child? When Nelenne turned twenty, her parents decided to leave gilneas, this sort of thing was frowned upon heavily and had to be done in secret. With the help of several other gilneans tired of being isolated from the world as well, Nelenna’s parents left on a shallow keeled vessel capable of navigating the treacherous reefs. They didn’t abandon Nel however, both her mother and father wanted to take Nel with them but she was an adult now and chose to stay even knowing she’d miss her parents dearly.

Life for Nelenna continued on however, and she continued to roam the woods around the city, trapping and hunting for a living. She continued doing this even after the rumors of strange wolfmen in the woods began to spread, ignoring them as mere superstition until Nel caught sight of these Worgen herself. The woman tried to make it back to town but was ambushed along the way, outnumbered and overwhelmed she put up a valiant fight but quickly succumbed to the worgens and the curse.

Twisted and transformed by the curse Nel roamed the countryside like an animal, killing anyone that got within her grasp. Until she was caught by pure chance, caged and eventually cured of the mindless worgen rage. Despite being saddened coming to the realization of the death she had inflicted while being little more than a wild animal, Nel was able to come to terms with it realizing that their was nothing she could of done to stop herself. Knowing that the only way to make up for such unwilling sins was to try do good in the world rather than sulk about it.
Though Nel has accepted her new life as more than just a human, she does still worry about telling her parents how their little girl has been turned into a monster should she ever see them again. A thought that the woman dwells on every so often until the thoughts pass and she focuses on other thoughts and chores.
